Tired much?

My excuse for neglecting my family blog is summed up in these two pictures right here. Complete and utter exhaustion. I really thought I had my crap together this holiday season. Gifts were purchased early and I was starting to get into the holiday spirit. By the time Christmas Eve rolled around, sickness had completely knocked us on our butts. Strep throat and ear infections set in and it was all I could do to shower and change into my pj's on Christmas Eve. Laying on the couch with a fever and chills was not what I had in mind for Christmas morning. It was so disappointing to not be able to join in the fun after all of the thought I put in to making sure the kids had a great Christmas. Despite my efforts to stay clear of everyone in the family, Eric got strep the very next day and it took us a good two weeks to fully recover.

So...what did I learn from all of this? I guess I learned that I need to slow down. Trying to fit in just one more thing isn't worth missing out on the important things. Listening to my body before it goes on strike is one of my goals for 2010. I find it funny that this picture was taken just last night. This is so typical of me. Feeling bad blogger guilt and trying to get started. At least I finally gave up and passed out. Ahhhhh sleep.....such a beautiful thing. Especially when my kids wake up at 5:30. Here's to a more restful 2010!

Fun in the snow at Mt. Charleston

Love this picture....so weird that cactus and snow exist so close together. Vegas is so weird.

Another lame Payne family attempt to make a decent snowman. Boys loved it though so that's all that mattered!

Putting on the gloves....things are getting serious now.

Christmas 2009

The boys getting ready for Christmas Eve dinner with our friends. Me and Mason? Not so much. Stayed behind and laid in bed together watching Christmas cartoons and passing germs back and forth. Sweet.

Santa came!

Boys tearing into gifts. Eric trying to get pictures of the morning so we would have proof we were there. Me? Looking like death warmed over on the couch with strep throat. Ho ho ho.

Blurry picture totally summed up our holiday. Went by in a flash. Hopefully next year we'll slow things down and hopefully have our health!
